Our laying hens are housed in mobile chicken houses which are moved throughout our 200 acre farm. They are allowed to roam freely from sunrise to sunset, eating a natural diet of grass. Chickens require a grain supplement for the protein content and we use only Non-GMO, Soy-Free feed.
Most of the eggs currently sold in supermarkets are nutritionally inferior to eggs produced by hens raised on pasture. According to Mother Earth News (Free-Range Test Results, 2007), eggs from hens raised on pasture may contain:
- 1/3 less cholesterol
- 1/4 less saturated fat
- 2/3 more vitamin A
- 2 times more omega-3 fatty acids
- 3 times more vitamin E
- 7 times more beta carotene
Our customers and their children tell us they will never go back to their supermarket eggs. They appreciate the tasty orange yolks and thick whites of their farm fresh eggs!
Research demonstrates that pasture-raised poultry yields more nutritious meat. One independent study revealed that compared to conventional chicken meat, pastured chicken meat contained 21% less total fat, 30% less saturated fat, 50% more vitamin A and 100% more omega-3’s.
